Indigenous Travel Support Scheme

Indigenous communities are the custodians of much of Australia’s biodiversity, and as such, perspectives derived from Indigenous socio ecological knowledge systems are crucial to biodiversity conservation. At ESA conferences, the connection between Indigenous scientists, researchers, land managers and the wider ecological community will be facilitated through the hosting of Indigenous Ecological Knowledge symposia and cultural field trips. They provide an opportunity for Indigenous people to access wider networks and to have their perspectives considered within this important meeting of the Australian ecological community, and important pathways for two-way knowledge sharing.

Please support Indigenous education, and the sharing of Indigenous ecological knowledge by participating in the Indigenous Travel Assistance Sponsorship Scheme.

Indigenous attendees face economic barriers that may prevent participation in this important event. We invite you to support
Indigenous education, and the sharing of Indigenous ecological knowledge.

Your contribution of AUD$1,500 (inc GST) per participant will assist with travel and registration for one Indigenous attendee. Up to 20 Indigenous participants will apply for Indigenous travel assistance. Your support to sponsor more than one attendee is greatly appreciated.
